Nashik: Heavy unseasonal downpour lashed several parts of Nashik on Friday night further damaging rabi crop wheat and seasonal fruits.
According to the local meteorological centre, villages in Sinnar, Chandwad, Niphad, Vani tehsils of the district received fresh spate of untimely rains, while some places also experienced rainfall along with hailstorm.

As per preliminary reports, crops of wheat, chick peas, grape and pomegranate were severely damaged across 1,500 acres in the villages. The revenue department has been asked by the district administration to make fresh panchnama (assessment of crop damage) in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, agriculture produce market committee (APMC) traders said that onion farmers brought their yield at the Lasalgaon APMC for auctions in around 2,300 vehicles yesterday and nearly 26,970 quintal of red onion was auctioned. The remaining would be done on Saturday, they said.
