A man in America's Ohio state has been arrested after he shot his wife of 45 years in her hospital bed while she was being treated for a critical illness, a media report said here.
Barbara Wise, 65, who is recovering from a life-threatening illness in the intensive care unit at the Akron General Medical Center, survived the gunshot wound but is in critical condition, the Daily Mail reported.
Her husband, 66-year-old John Wise has been arrested on attempted murder charges.

Officials said Wise went to visit his wife and stood at her bedside, when he suddenly pulled out a handgun and shot her.
A doctor heard the gunshot and ran into the room and negotiated with Wise for two minutes while security officers arrived. The guards were able to subdue Wise and take him into custody.
It is not known why Wise shot his wife. He has been charged with attempted murder.
