Ushering in a new Ira

Ira Trivedi is a consultant at a private jet company and still manages to peruse her passion for writing.

The writer who has recently released her new book, The Great Indian Love Story tells CS about how it feels to be an author at just 25:

Write choice

I never intended to be a writer, writing just happened to me.

My first book What Would You Do To Save The World? came out when I was 21, and The Great Indian Love Story is my second book. People and their stories inspire me.

Each one of my books is based on my experiences and the people that I have come across. It is difficult sometimes, but it takes a lot of determination and discipline to keep on writing.

Love actually

In the summer of 2006, I came to India to write The Intern which is based on my experiences on Wall Street. But that never happened.

When I spent time in India I met people and came across situations, which inspired me to write The Great Indian Love Story.

Many of the characters in the book are inspired by real people.

But, all identities have been protected and the books have been published as fiction. I have not discussed people's lives as 'gossip' but woven them into meaningful tales.

Cutting a long story short

It took me two and half years to finish the book. I wrote the first draft in Delhi, which was double the size of the book that has been published today.

I then locked the book in my drawer and only read it a year and a half later. I was surprised at how interesting the story was, and I decided to edit it.

I went to Bali for a friends wedding, and then ended up staying there for two months working on this book.

I worked 12 hours a day for those two months getting the book to look like it does today. This book has taught me a lot about myself.
