Johnny Depp is said to be paying the French singer/actress £100 million (Rs 880 crore) in a bid to keep the split as amicable as possible for the sake of their children.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star is reported to be worth at least £200 million (Rs 1,763 crore) and has an extensive property portfolio. The couple have a mansion and apartment in Los Angeles and own the island of Little Hall’s Pond Cay in the Bahamas.
Top Hollywood lawyer Robert Nachshin said, “If the couple had been married, Depp’s wife would be able to simply claim 50 per cent, child support payments and alimony.
However, because they are not married this does not apply. The partner would have to file a civil suit and go to court.” Nachshin added: “Litigation is expensive, and could run into extremely high figures. This won’t be a monthly payment plan — he will make a lump sum payment as a settlement.”
