The lifeless wicket at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur that received a lot of flak after the fourth and final Test between India and England will be discussed in the association's next executive committee meeting, it is learnt
The wicket in Jamtha came under the scanner from Day One of the Test match itself with uneven bounce. However, the wicket improved drastically on the fourth and fifth day as the ball came on to the bat nicely.u00a0
Evidently, the Indian bowlers struggled to take wickets on the final day as England batted out for a draw to clinch the series 2-1. The wicket was slammed by former England skipper Mike Atherton, who said it was a “disgraceful” track.

A VCA source revealed to MiD DAY: “The wicket issue might not be on the agenda of the executive committee meeting, but it will be certainly discussed. We are aware of the criticism and will take necessary steps if required. At the moment it is too early to predict anything.”
Meanwhile, VCA president Prakash Dixit said: “What’s the point in talking about it now? The Test match is over.”u00a0

The PA Sport report that quoted India captain MS Dhoni saying that he hoped Sachin Tendulkar would continue playing international cricket, had the wrong number of runs Tendulkar scored in the series against England. He scored 112 and not 76 as mentioned in the report. Tendulkar’s highest was 76 – at Kolkata in the third Test.
