Vengeful hotelier rapes ex-flame's 12-year-old sister
The 22-year-old rapist also kidnapped the victim's newborn nephew, say cops
The Nagpada police have arrested a 22-year-old hotelier for raping a 12-year-old and kidnapping her four-month-old nephew.
The accused committed the crime in an act of retaliation against the victim's elder sister, who had dumped him for another man.
According to the police, on Tuesday morning, they received a complaint from Roma (name changed), a 21-year-old resident of Nagpada, that someone had kidnapped her four-month-old son and 12-year-old sister.
After investigations, cops learnt that the pre-teen sister of the complainant had spoken to a Chembur hotelier, Monu Sachdev, before leaving the house.
"After we identified the accused, we traced his whereabouts through mobile tower locations and arrested him from Sanpada. After arresting him, we found that he had raped the complainant's 12-year-old sister in a lodge at Sanpada," said Senior Inspector Sanjay Kadam of Nagpada police station.
Act of revenge
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that he wanted to exact revenge on Roma's elder sister, Himani (22, name changed), with whom he had an affair in the past. Police said that Sachdev and Himani were going around for more than five years.
"Himani used to stay in Chembur a few years ago. Her family used to order food from Sachdev's hotel regularly. That's how they knew each other. Soon, their friendship turned into a full-blown affair, which continued for as long as five years, until she shifted to Nagpada," the officer said.
After moving, Himani started ignoring the accused and started seeing another man. When Sachdev came to know about it, he felt outraged at the betrayal and decided to get back at Himani, cops said. Last Monday, the accused called up Himani's youngest sister and called her downstairs with Roma's four-month-old son, and kidnapped the two. The accused then took the youngster to a lodge in Sanpada and raped her.
Cops booked Sachdev on charges of rape and kidnapping, after nabbing him. He was produced before the metropolitan magistrate court where he was remanded to police custody till October 11.
As for the victim, she is currently undergoing treatment for trauma at the Mahila Sudhar Griha in Dongri. The kidnapped infant, who cops found in Sanpada, has been reunited with his parents.
