Former India and Mumbai captain Dilip Vengsarkar went back disappointed after the cops did not allow his car to enter the Wankhede Stadium yesterday
It is learnt that Vengsarkar’s car was denied an entry into the stadium as his car number was not registered with the police officials.
Vengsarkar was carrying a valid match pass and his vehicle also had a security check sticker on it which is ideally sufficient to get an entry into the stadium.

A source told MiD DAY: “Vengsarkar didn’t like the way he was treated, so he went back.” Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) joint-secretary Nitin Dalal expressed his disappointment over the incident. “Whatever has happened is sad. This shouldn’t have happened. Mr Vengsarkar, who was there for around 10 minutes, tried to explain to the cops that he is an India cricketer and (former) vice-president of the MCA.
“Our (MCA) officials reached the spot as soon as they came to know about it, but by then Vengsarkar had left,” said Dalal.
“We spoke to the police officials and they too regret their mistake. In fact, the Additional Commissioner of Police (south region), Mr Krishna Prakash apologised to Vengsarkar and requested him to come to the ground. He also said that he can personally come to pick him up,” Dalal informed. u00a0
