New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) needs to launch a national movement on the lines of Ram Janambhoomi issue to rekindle the ancient Hindu values, VHP leader Ashok Singhal said Sunday.
"If we wish to protect our values in India and seek a real liberty of our ancient Indian Hindu religion and culture, then the political freedom that we have accomplished may not be of any help in meeting this objective. We will have to launch a big movement," Singhal said here at the VHP headquartes while addressing media on various issues.
Highlighting the significance of the VHP's endeavour over the years, Singhal credited the organisation for being a big reason behind the BJP now holding the reins of power at the Centre.
"We have seen this is exactly what has been the history of over 50 years...We also took up a huge programme in the form of Ram Janmabhoomi revolution...There is need to understand the role of VHP...and I will even say we have today reclaimed our long lost rule (Hindu kingdom) because of that revolution (Ram Janmabhoomi programme) only."
