Serbian striker's 46th minute header made the difference, says Ferguson

Ferguson said Vidic's header in first-half stoppage time, that was later followed up with second half strikes byu00a0 from Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, was crucial.

"Normally these games are so tight, it is hard to pick the winner," Ferguson said.

"But getting the goal at half-time certainly made the difference. They had to chase the game a bit in the second half.

"They had a lot of good possession and they are a threat when they get possession because they have so many clever players.

But I felt we defended the 18-yard-line really well and I don't think they got a really clear cut chance.
"On the other side, our attacking was very good too.

We had some good chances and Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech made three good saves in the first half."
