Fashion designer Vikram Phadnis has launched his new multi-designer store, Krasaa after bidding adieu to his flagship store

The end of 2014 has witnessed interesting changes for designer Vikram Phadnis, who has completed 25 years in the industry. Apart from announcing his plunge into direction for a Bipasha Basu-starrer, Phadnis downed the shutters of his flagship store in Juhu, to launch multi-brand design house, Krasaa (beautiful: Russian/Czech).

“Today, every designer has a flagship store across cities. But today’s customers want everything, and quick. With a multi-designer store we can get different designers and styles under one roof. At Krasaa we will have pret, diffusion and couture together,” shares Phadnis about his reason to start a multi designer store in place of his store.

Ask him if it is commercially more viable to sell multiple brands, he says that’s a thing one would have to wait and watch. The designer, who currently has his hands full with the new store and his film, says he will reopen his flagship store in Bandra after he wraps up his current projects.

The store will house popular names such as Sonakshi Raaj, Peppermint Diva along with established designers such as Gauri & Nainika, Gavin Miguel and Amit Aggarwal. It will also house accessories by labels including Valliyan. The list of names will be on rotation, as Phadnis aims to give an equal platform to new and old names. Phadnis’ own designs will also be available. When asked if he views the names in his store as competition, he is candid: “With so many years in the industry, everyone is a friend and just a phone call away.”
Since several names also have their own stores in the city, the designers have created separate collections for Krasaa. Krasaa will also host different events such as bridal consultation and charity collections. Through all of this, Phadnis aims to make it easy for a variety of people to enter a designer store. “Many imagine that entering a designer store would be an expensive idea. At Krasaa, we will have products starting at Rs 8,000 to Rs10,000,”
