In cricket no number is more significant than 100. Sir Don Bradman is remembered for his batting average only because it came so close to perfection.

It was only apt that Virat Kohli acknowledged the reaching of this landmark, albeit from the press box, by R Kaushik, who has worked for News Time, Deccan Herald and Wisden India.

Handing over a signed T-shirt which conveyed his "bestest wishes" Kohli said: "It's a fantastic achievement and always a pleasure to talk to Kaushik or answer his questions at press conferences because he understands cricket and is not one of those looking for a masala story." High praise indeed, and richly deserved.
