After the commotion at Delhi airport last night after airport police and CISF personnel detained 27 people travelling to Dubai with fake visas, flight schedule was affected at Pune airport as well.

Relatives of passengers told MiD DAY that flights from Delhi were delayed for almost an hour. While the on-duty terminal manager claimed that no flights were delayed at Pune airport, a quick check revealed otherwise.

SpiceJet Delhi-Pune and Bangalore-Pune, flights, and a Bangalore-Pune Jet Airways flight, scheduled to arrive at 10.30 pm, 10.35 pm and 10.50 pm respectively, were still awaited until 11.30 pm.

While airport officials refused to comment, a few personnel said that the delay may have been due to enhanced security checks at airports.

"I don't know what happened at the Delhi airport. I have been waiting since over 1.5 hours for a relative to arrive. Even after so long, there is no clarity over the flight arrival.

Call from Pune
Meanwhile, the Delhi police revealed that information regarding 12 of 27 people detained in the fake visa case had been given by an airlines call centre in Pune.

"The Kingfisher call centre in Baner received the call and passed on the information to Delhi," said a source.

However, both airport officials and airline staffers at the Pune airport were clueless about the incident.

Meanwhile, the security cordon around the Lohegaon airport was lifted after four days of stringent nakabandi.
