Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne is nursing burns to his right hand, placing doubt on his availability for the start of the Twenty20 Big Bash League.

Warne, who will come out of retirement to play for the Melbourne Stars, is believed to have burnt his hand in a cooking incident, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

"Not ideal preparation for practice match today-burning the bowling hand Get better quickly please, any suggestions-HELP," Warne wrote on Twitter.

Warne also posted a photo on Twitter of his hand, showing large blisters on three of his fingers with his little finger the worst affected.

Stars officials were, however, confident that Warne would only miss a practice match today, and would be fit for the team's first match of the tournament against the Sydney Thunder at the MCG on Saturday.
