The cop who tried to disperse the crowd was attacked again. He suffered a serious injury to the forehead.
The incident happened as 25-year-old man died allegedly after being thrashed by a policeman, who suspected him to be a gambler. The death of the man led to public furore and locals roughed up a police sub-inspector in the Chowk Bazaar police station.
The police are still investigating the case.
