Around 200 water storage tanks meant for drought relief, which were given by Bollywood actor Salman Khan are still lying unused at the irrigation department's executive sub-engineer's office in the city.

Salman Khan's Being Human Foundation had provided water storage tanks across drought affected Beed district from May 6 onwards, but not all tanks have been distributed to drought affected villages yet.

Aam Aadmi Party too had given 10 water storage tanks to Beed district's drought-affected area.

"We informed block development officers of three tehsils but they did not take water storage tanks," an officer said.

Another official said that, "Beed tehsil panchayat should have taken water storage tanks but they did not. Rainy season has arrived but block development officers have not found the time to take these water tanks to drought hit villages".

Residential district collector (RDC) B M Kamble said that the rural water distribution department is responsible for distributing water storage tanks.

"I will give strict instructions to the executive sub-engineer to distribute water storage tanks to villages. Today, I have talked to some officers," he said.
