Parnell and Indian cricketer and Pune teammate Rahul Sharma were among nearly 100 people detained for medical testing at an upmarket hotel in Mumbai last May which was raided by police who found drugs on the premises. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo last month, Parnell said: “As far as I am concerned, everything is fine. I’ve received a mail from Pune saying I have to come (for the IPL). I’ve got nothing to hide. The full story will come out once I get over there.
They tested everyone that was at the party. I need to find my sample, because if they tested me they must have my sample and we need to match that up.”
Parnell, who left India after the medical examination, has denied any wrongdoing. Left-arm paceman Parnell, 23, has played three Tests, 27 one-dayers and 17 T20 games for South Africa. He has yet to play in the IPL this year.
