People who knew Professor Sachdev now deny knowing the family; cops keep mum on progress

Many of Prof. Sachdevu00a0 acquaintances are trying to distance themselves from theu00a0 police.

In fact, one of his friends, who used to meet him often, absolutely refused to admit that he knew the professor.

Another person, secretary of a local association which the professor visited frequently, said, "Prof. Sachdev was not a member of the association and I didn't know him personally".

The RT Nagar police who are investigating the case too are mum about the issue.

"I do not want to comment anything about this now as the matter is still investigation," the RT Nagar police said.

Clues found

City Police Commissioner S M Bidari told reporters that they have definite information on the murders and the case would soon be cracked.

"We cannot reveal anything about the perpetrators of crime as we are corroborating the case with the evidence," he said.

"We have set up two special teams to investigate the case and they are working round the clock to solve this case," he added.

The police are on look out for the domestic help, Deepak and Suchitra from West Bengal, who went missing mysteriously. According to a relative, they had asked the couple, working at professor's house, for their photographs and address proof. "They started evading us since then and vanished from the house," the relative said.

A friend indeed...
Arpan Arora, a family friend of Prof Sachdev's, spoke to this repoter.

"I had asked the family to hire a security guard or to al least install security gadgets. They had a disabled son and there was no one was around to help them. But they never took our advice seriously."

However, just a few days ago, Sachdev told me he would consider this seriously this time, but fate had different plans."

Prof Sachdev was working on his fourth book

Prof Sachdev had writtenu00a0 three books earlier on mathematics, and was working on his forth.


"He worked with us till 1997 but his association continued even after he retired. He was in fact working on a book on differential equations," says Ramanujhan G, a physics professor.

Sachdev would often visit IISc to research his book which was almost complete and only needed a few verifications.u00a0


"He was a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, a prestigious fellowship. Also, he worked really hard on his previous book called Non-linear Diffusion Equation which is pretty famous," Mrinal K Ghosh, chairman of the mathematics department at IISc added.

Sachdevu00a0 had joined the Indian Institute of Science as a student in 1963. "He studied mathematics here and then worked as a faculty for a long time. He worked in the field of mathematics till 60 years," said professor Ghosh.
