A distraught Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews felt MS Dhoni, who slammed a match-winning unbeaten 45, made the difference.
After bowling out Sri Lanka for 201, India rode on skipper Dhoni’s master class and Rohit Sharma’s half-century to chase down the target with two balls to spare here on Thursday.

Mathews, however, lauded his bowlers for taking the game down to the wire. “It was a great game, the bowlers showed a lot of character to defend 200. Herath bowled really well to bring us back into the game, but Dhoni is always a dangerous batsman. We played a good tournament throughout, didn’t win the title, but the players showed a lot of character.”
Mathews suspended
Meanwhile, Mathews has been suspended for two ODIs while his players have been fined 40 per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate on Thursday.
