The film is reportedly based on the life of Silk Smitha, a bold dancer who made it to top in South Indian films after becoming famous for her sexy dance numbers.

There is a scene in the film that shows an out of form horse (owned by the heroine of the film) causing a stunning upset at astronomical odds by winning a race.

The Dirty Picture team sponsored a special race yesterday at Mahalaxmi, titled "The Dirty Picture Trophy", to promote their film, and coincidentally an out-of-form horse caused a stunning upset at astronomical odds and the name of the horse was Bold Dancer!

Bold Dancer (F Irani up) was easily available at 50 to 1 in the bookmakers' ring, and the tote paid Rs 340 for Rs 10 on the fluke horse.

Pesi Shroff-trained Cardinal (B Prakash up) won the feature race, Maharaja Of Morvi Trophy while the Geetanjali Juvenile Million was bagged by the Adil Dajee-trained Relic Hunter.
