English folk. What's that? Cut to Google and you realise that the preservers of colonial culture have also successfully safeguarded and revived their folk music, which is a confluence of jigs, Morris dance, erotic folk, war songs, protest compositions, sea shanties, carols and ballads.

To create a fresh arrangement, new sounds and revitalised acoustic instrumentation, Laura will pool in the soulful music of Anaraag Mahanta of popular Assamese band Papon. Mumford & Sons will perform with a troupe of Rajasthani artistes of the Dharohar Project.

5 questions with Laura Marling
How did the Indian tour come about?

We met someone, whose name I don't remember, during a music festival in Texas. They wanted us to perform in India. I said yes, and here I am.

What can we expect at the show?
I'll be playing tracks from my first album, Alas! I Can't Swim. I'm sure the local collaborations with Indian musicians will be a return gift.

Your new album Goodbye England releases this Christmas. What's it about?
It's about this sulking feeling I experience when I travel abroad. I miss my country.

What gift would you ask Santa for?
Peace.

What new year Resolutions haven't you kept?
Those of kindness and composure. When someone looks down on me, I can't stand it.

On: December 12, at Bandra Amphitheatre, 6.30 pm. Call 22790120.
