Yuvraj Singh's batting form in the on-going World Twenty20 at Bangladesh is a concern for India. The swashbuckling southpaw needs to turn it on quickly if he wishes to be part of the 2015 ICC World Cup
Even the sharpest critics of Yuvraj Singh will admit that when the southpaw gets going he is a genuine match-winner. However, the flamboyant left-handed batsman who once struck fear within the opposition’s bowlers with his exquisite shot-making ability is now almost reduced to a shadow of his former self. So far he has struggled in the two outings in the super ten stage of the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh and needs to get back in form quickly.

Infact, his confidence seems to be at an all-time low and that has also affected his fielding and bowling. Yuvraj dropped a regulation high catch of the dangerous Chris Gayle during Sunday’s clash with the West Indies, which luckily did not prove to be costly in the context of the game. In his two outings against Pakistan and the West Indies, Yuvraj looked scratchy and badly out-of-form. He scored a painstaking 10 off 19 balls against the West Indies on Sunday and was cheaply dismissed for 1 in the earlier match against Pakistan.
Time is running out for the talented southpaw and he has to find his feet quickly if he wishes to be part of the 2015 World Cup team. With the kind of form he’s in at the moment, it will be difficult for the selectors to persist with him in the future.
The WT20 is the perfect stage for the talented southpaw to again establish his credentials as one of the most feared batsman in the shorter version of the game. Indian skipper MS Dhoni is also backing the Punjab lad to come good in the remaining matches of the T20 World Cup. Can Yuvraj Singh, who fought off cancer, get over this slump and revive his cricketing career? Only time will tell
