Cops to quiz gurus at the Osho International Meditation Resort over the alleged LeT operative's motive behind visiting the ashram

The gurus at Osho Commune, who teach meditation techniques to achieve mental peace and harmony, are most likely to need a dose of meditation to calm their stretched nerves.

After the revelation that alleged LeT operative David Headley had visited the commune twice, city cops are all set to grill the gurus in the hunt for more information on the US terror suspect.

A senior police officer told MiD-DAY, "Though it was the Osho commune that informed us about the terror suspect's visit to the commune, there are several clarifications that we still need."

Joint Commissioner of police Rajendra Sonawane said, "We want to find out what Headley, who had a business visa, was doing in the Osho commune. What business did he have entering the commune?"

"We also want to find out from the instructors whether Headley participated in the course or was he missing. Till now we believe that Headley had come to Pune only on the basis of the statement given by the Osho Commune," he added.

"For an international visitor it is mandatory to bring his original passport with the current visa. Why did no one notice that he had a business visa?" asked an officer.

Headley had visited the Osho commune on July 24, 2008 and March 16, 2009.

Spokesperson of the commune Ma Sadhana said, "We are extending full cooperation to the investigating agencies."

To enter the Osho International Meditation Resort a person needs to register at the Welcome Center and take an on-the-spot HIV/AIDS test and get his daily meditation resort pass. This, Rs 700 pass, includes the full-day meditation program. The cost is Rs 300 for Indians.

Cheap connection
The other aspect that the cops are investigating is if Headley really stayed at the Hotel Surya Villa or was it just booked in his name by another person. The cops are finding it strange that Headley who has traveled to different parts of the world was staying in a small hotel in a non-AC room for a meager fare of Rs 1,200.
