When the aroma of food wafts to your nostrils even before the plate has landed on your table, you know you are in for something good. And that's not something that really happens in restaurants around town these days. While the food might taste good in some, usually there is no aroma to fill up your senses. So when that delightful smell of kebabs hit my senses at Buzz, I knew I was up for something good.

Buzz has a nice pub-like feel

When I walked into Buzz on a Thursday night, the DJ was playing popular numbers while guests were seen busy catching the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. Dimly lit with a pub-like ambience, this is the kind of place where you should go if you have a happy backslapping group (if you are a man, read friends).

The bar area is huge and the servers know how to whip up a good cocktail. And they take pains to figure out if
a guest likes the food/drinks. Again, another trait not found on too many places around town. Another thing I liked about Buzz is that they have an area, stylishly designed and named Smokin' Central, dedicated for those who cannot do without a puff, even during meals. Thoughtful gesture, I thought.

Around the world
The menu has sections divided into Global, Oriental and Indian, though global here generally sticks to Lebanese and some Continental and the Oriental barely moves beyond regular Chinese save for some Wasabi prawns, which we ordered. They were huge and tasted like they have been dipped in mustard sauce. The joy of this dish lies in the aftertaste, when the flavour hits you after you have finished chewing. There was nothing extraordinary about the Veg mezze platter though, apart from the sheer quantity of food. It had
soyabean, chickpeas, falafel, halloumi, cheese sambusse, hummus, babaganoush and tabuleh. The usual.

Keeping cool
In the meantime, the action on the screen was hotting up. Which called for a drink. So I ordered some Bailey's Irish Cream, and to go with it, and assortment of kebabs. There was chicken, lamb and fish, with their aroma
preceding them. What I liked about the kebabs here that they were soft and melt in your mouth, so no fighting with the knife and fork like you need to do usually. The place is also promoting some cool cocktails during the summer months. So once there, you can choose from either a Jasmine Tea Martini (concentrated jasmine tea with vodka) to keep you cool or order a Mint Orange and Ice with fresh orange chunks muddled with fresh mint leaves, hardened with a shot of vodka and balanced with lime. There is also the Buzz Sangria (red/white wine with seasonal fresh fruits and orange liquer). I went for a shooteru00a0-- Kami Kaze with vodka, triple sec and lime juice. Well made and made me order another. It was getting late but people kept dropping in. For me, that signalled time to order main course. The match was over and I needed some comfort food as my team had lost. What better to soothe the soul than a risotto? I ordered some Mint and Asparagus Risotto to which the chef added chicken on request. A nice way to end the meal.
