Bollywood music lovers in Muscat were left disheartened when legendary singer Asha Bhosle walked out of her recent Valentine's Day concert midway, thanks to a dysfunctional sound system. She was performing along with singer Sachin of Sachin-Jigar fame at the event held to mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between India and Oman.

The spokesperson of Light & Shadow Enterprises, which organised the show, says: "We have previously organised world class concerts such as that of Shah Rukh Khan, Akon and other shows, and have never compromised on the production aspect of the event which has been our strength. We ourselves are genuinely upset at what happened and apologise to the audience."

This is not the first time that a celebrity decided to walk out of an event due to shoddy or inadequate arrangements. hitlist recalls a few instances from the recent past...

Note of dissent
Zareen Khan

Who: Zareen Khan
Where: Private performance
What: The Katrina lookalike had been invited to perform at an anniversary celebration in New Delhi. Apparently, one of the guests started showering a wad of Rs 100 notes on her while the onlookers hooted and whistled at the sight. The actress felt insulted and stopped performing. This reportedly led to a heated argument among the hosts, the event management firm and Zareen, as she refused to return her payment of Rs 5 lakh. The cops were called in but they decided to leave it to the event organisers to sort it out with the actress.

Staying ahead
Tanuja
Who: Tanuja
Where: Awards gala
What: The veteran actress apparently threw a fit during an awards function last month over the seating arrangement. She was seated at the front along with daughter Tanishaa. However, as celebrities started pouring in, the organisers added chairs in front of the first row as there was no space behind. Tanuja earlier asked them not to place the chairs in front of her and later, when she saw they did not heed her words, she threatened to walk out of the show.

Back-ing out
Gulshan Grover
Who: Gulshan Grover
Where: Charity event
What: Last year, Salman Khan's charity foundation hosted a fundraiser for the physically challenged at a suburban hotel, in collaboration with a TV channel and couple of other voluntary organisations. Apart from Salman, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Vishaka Singh and Gulshan Grover were part of the event that started at 4.30pm. But when Grover walked in 90 minutes later, he found the front row seats were occupied and had to be accommodated in one of the back rows. The 'bad man' was so upset about it that he left within a few minutes.

U-turn, literally
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover
Who: Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover
Where: Film promotions at a city mall
What: The Alone co-stars were supposed to spread word about their film at a shopping mall in Ghatkopar earlier this year. However, they were halfway to the venue when the organisers asked them to steer their vehicle back as the promotional event stood cancelled in view of security issues. That evening, there were massive traffic snarls courtesy religious processions across the city. The organisers, in spite of having a team of bouncers, felt it would be unsafe to hold a starry show as the mall was already over-crowded.
