On Friday March 11, Palkar uploaded a video of herself singing a popular Marathi song by Jaywant Kulkarni called ‘Hi chal turu turu’ clubbed with Anna Kendrick’s ‘Cups’ song’s rhythm which got 53k likes on social networking site Facebook in 24 hours. Anna Kendrick performs ‘Cups’ which is a version of a 1931 song of the same name, in the 2012 film ‘Pitch Perfect’ based on a college acapella group.

“I have my own YouTube channel called Mithila Palkar which has 392 subscribers right now. I had done a cover of Frank Sinatra’s song ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ on which I had a comment which said I should do a Marathi song. This song is me fulfilling that request,” says Palkar, former MMK College student who started the YouTube channel, when in college. She has learnt Hindustani classical music.

Palkar says Hollywood star Anna Kendrick was her inspiration. “I have seen many covers of the song, I wanted to do something different. Hailing from a Marathi family, the Marathi song was part of my consciousness since childhood. I felt it went well with the beats so I chose to sing the number,” says the actress.

Palkar feels the Internet is a powerful medium, and enjoys putting up videos of herself. “The Internet is the place to be. In between auditioning for films I am looking forward to doing more videos online,” Palkar signs off.
