On eve of the shaadi, MiD DAY walks in and out of VVIP enclosure with no questions asked

Yesterday, On the eve of Gopinath Munde's daughter's wedding, that will see nearly 3,000 VIPs attending the grand affair, MiD DAY found security arrangement at the venue missing.

Nearly, 500 security personnel have been deputed to guard the high-profile wedding, where dignitaries right from the CM Ashok Chavan to BJP chief L K Advani are expected.

When MiD DAY visited the venue at around 8 pm, event managers of Wiz Craft International Entertainment Limited along with local BJP leaders, were too busy setting up the mandap to notice a couple of intruders.

Not only did we enter the venue unchecked, but we also roamed the entire VVIP enclosure, including the enclosure where food was to be served to the VVIPs, and even sat in the chairs meant for them.

Not a soul batted an eyelid at our presence, and there were no metal detectors or people checking hand bags.

When asked about the security arrangements, Sandeep Khardekar, a BJP official who is managing the event, said they had kept the venue open to public. "We don't want to hide anything; people are enthusiastic about their leader's daughter's wedding. We want even the common man to come and witness this grand event. But before tomorrow we will spruce up the security, this place will be like a fortress."
