First in mid-day  Known for dressing several Bollywood beauties, including Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Kajol for their red carpet appearances, fashion designer Nikhil Thampi will now be creating the key looks for DJ Armin van Buuren’s concerts in the country, next month.

The Dutch Trance music legend, who has been ranked as the World No 1 for an impressive five times, will be performing in the city on June 6.

Buuren will also be performing in Hyderabad Thampi tells us, “While we have designed different looks for Armin, he hasn’t yet finalised which one he will be picking for his appearances.

The idea of his dressing comes from the concept of Atithi Devo Bhava, where we treat our guests as royalty. So, we have suggested elements of luxury with bandhgalas and jodhpurs but with a mix of ripped jeans and slogan T-shirts as he has a line of tees as well. In the end, we had to keep in mind that it’s a music event and not a fashion event and he has to be comfortable while playing music.”

Look 1: This features a coloured bandhgala jacket with a slogan T-shirt and ripped jeans keeping his personal style in mind. The Kalgi that is worn as a brooch on the jacket works as the key ‘Indianesque’ factor that is synonymous with the royal heritage of Hyderabad which is part of the underlying inspiration. “The slogan can even be India-based such as ‘I’m in India’,” says Thampi.

Look 2: This look features jeans and a brooch paired with a  crisp Chinese collared shirt kurta that is worn with a basic black/coloured blazer. The length of the kurta would be few inches longer than the blazer. “We can pair this with a pair of kolhapuris,” suggests Thampi. The designer feels that the jackets in all the looks can be taken off when he will be manning the deck.

Look 3: “The third look is crisp and clean and features white French cuff shirt with metal collar tip detailing. The metal detailing is signature to our label and the cream jodhpur pants again give a royal touch,” says Thampi.
