Like any other day, social worker Rajeshwary Khanna was taking a stroll with her dog in her MHADA building compound in Tardeo on Saturday night.
Suddenly, amid the cool breeze blowing in the air and little raindrops hitting the earth, she heard a stray dog howling loudly.
As the cries from the dog got louder, Rajeshwary decided to find out what was wrong. She first dropped her pet at home and came down searching for the stray dog.

What she saw was a sight she wouldn't want to see ever again.

"I saw a man push his fingers inside the private parts of the female dog. Later, he tried to penetrate his penis into the bitch.

The man, who was later identified as Mahesh Kamath, a 35-year-old taxi driver, earned the wrath of the residents, especially Rageshwary, who beat him and ensured he did not flee.
Police STN Drama
The residents then took the pervert to the police station where another drama ensued.
"Police officials were reluctant to file an FIR against Kamath and kept asking me whether I will be able to manage further court proceedings," explained Rageshwary.
She added, "The man is so insensitive. He is a threat to society. He could have even attempted such an appalling act on children since many were on the streets that night for visarjan."
After much deliberation, Kamath was arrested and then sent to a government hospital for a medical examination.
"We have arrested the man for unnatural sex (under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code) and Section 12 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
His medical reports are awaited," said an officer from the Tardeo police station who did not wish to be named.
The dog was taken to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Parel.
"There is no bleeding and we have not found any semen in the dog's private parts. But we have sent samples for tests," said Lt Col (Dr) J C Khanna, secretary, SPCA.
