Lincoln

Luke Kenny, maker of the film Rise of the Zombie
The big battle is going to be between Lincoln and Les Miserables, though I would bet on Lincoln. It has many things going for it; firstly, it’s about one of the greatest heroes of America — Abraham Lincoln. Secondly, Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the Academy favourites and has given a stellar performance. But Les Miserables could upset its chances mostly because it’s such a beautiful film. It’s one thing to act, but another to act and sing. The dark horse of the race is Argo. The Academy loves stories of hardships, and Argo is one that not only tells a great story, but also has a great script, acting and is shot beautifully. But having said this, Argo is most likely to win in the performance and technical awards categories.u00a0

Argo

I am personally a fan of thrillers. All the movies nominated for Oscars deserve to win as they touch human aspects in some way or the other. However, according to me Argo is the movie that is worthy of the award. The movie plot is brilliant and is hard to believe that the story is actually based on a true incident. The precision with which Ben Affleck crafts this human thriller is commendable considering that none of the key characters are your typical thriller superhero.

Argo

At the Oscars, the focus is on the whole quality of film-making, the way the film is shot, the storyline, the overall appeal, etc. That’s why I think movies such as Argo and Les Miserables stand a very good chance of winning the Best Picture Award. In the case of Argo, I watched the trailers, the promotions of the movie and then watched the movie. The way Argo has been picturised and the way the storyline flows is very interesting and makes it a very strong contender for the Best Picture Award.

Zero Dark Thirty
Vi Das, Actor

I think Zero Dark Thirty was a great movie. It took an important issue and dealt with it well. To take something that has happened and say it in a way that is entertaining without bastardising it is very difficult. And this film has done that well. So, I definitely think that it deserves to win. A movie that could take the award from it would probably be Django Unchained.

Lincoln
Richa Chadda, Actress

I haven’t seen all of the movies yet I think Lincoln stands a good chance of winning. Firstly, it’s a Steven Spielberg movie. Plus, its a patriotic movie and most importantly, it stars Daniel Day-Lewis, who is a very reclusive and brilliant actor. You don’t see him much and I feel that he will win the Best Actor trophy as well.u00a0
