Who sent that text message to IPL team officials?

As we have been saying. Please align yourself with us. Or everyone will get the same taste of the medicine we have given to RR and KXIP. Owners should not think they are above the BCCI. We know how to clip your wings. President and I have decided we will run the IPL the way we want to and after all its our property. We will throw Lalit Modi and anyone attached with him. So best avoid talking to him ufffdu00a0A text message sent out on behalf ofu00a0BCCI secretaryu00a0N Srinivasan

Indian Premier League franchise owners are convinced that N Srinivasan's alleged SMS, which caused shockwaves around the cricket fraternity yesterday, was a big hoax. Officials at Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils confirmed that it was a case of foul play.

Sources told MiD DAY that it could have been someone from a rival camp in order to get back at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Yesterday, team owners claimed they received a text message (see left) from Srinivasan.

Despite, Dr Vijay Mallya's scathing attack against BCCI on Sunday after the scrapping of Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, sources reveal that franchises have, and will continue to maintain a healthy relationship with the Board.

Message
"We knew from the start that he (Srinivasan) would never send that sort of a message to us. Why would any BCCI official send a message like that? It must be some sort of personal vendetta against BCCI and Srinivasan," said a senior logistics manager at Delhi Daredevils.u00a0 "No way Mr. Srinivasan can ever send a message like that. I just refuse to buy it," said Jeet Banerjee, Team Director of Kolkata Knight Riders. "We are confident all the issues will be resolved soon and things should be normal again," added Benerjee.

So why would anybody send an SMS of this nature? A furious BCCI official told MiD DAY: "We have registered a police complaint to find out who did this. The service provider has confirmed that Mr Srinivasan did not send out this SMS. Someone hacked into the system and sent the SMS through his number. We promise to take swift action against the offender. This is totally unacceptable," he remarked.

Srinivasan confirmed that BCCI was contemplating action against the offender. He said it was an attempt to sully the board's image.
