Former World No 1 Victoria admits being embarrassed when she met former England football captain David after her win over Venus Williams in the semi-final of Qatar Open

Doha: Former World No 1 Victoria Azarenka admitted that she was blushing while meeting footballer David Beckham after her 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 semi-final win over Venus Williams in the Qatar Open.
The World No 48 said that it was great to have Beckham watching in the crowd. Beckham was constantly shown on the big screen in his VIP seat at the Khalifa International Complex, Doha, each time bringing loud cheers and screams from the crowd.

She posted a picture of her with the former England captain on Instagram and captioned it: “Picture of the day, of the year and my favorite on Instagram... #ImBlushing #whoWouldnt #hotdamn”
The Belarussian said she aware of his presence and said it was anything but off-putting. “I don’t know what’s not to love about him to be honest,” said Azarenka.

Boost for the sport
“I appreciate somebody from another sport, a top class athlete being here, supporting our game, I think it is good for tennis, not just woman’s tennis, but it also important to feel that support from other athletes.
“I appreciated it, I think it makes it more entertaining.” The former World No 1 admitted she tried to impress the former England captain, every time he was shown on the big screen.

“Of course, I noticed him. When they showed him on TV, everybody started screaming. I tried to show off a little of my football skills.”
When asked, that she won her semi-final for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star turned fashion icon, she stressed: “I wouldn’t go that far.”
