Why does Kites and Prince have Hollywood editors

Is B-Town facing a creative crunch? Two big Hindi films, Rakesh Roshan's Kites and Kumar Taurani's Prince, are up for release this year but both are being edited by Hollywood editors.

KITES

Edited by:
Brett Ratner (The X-Men, Rush Hour)
Releases in: Hindi and English
Running time (now): 90 minutes (English version) 120 minutes (Hindi version)
Why: Says Kites producer Rakesh Roshan, "Brett is a friend. When I showed him Kites, he was impressed and agreed to help out. He has edited the English version of Kites keeping in mind the sensibilities of the US audience, as we are not so aware of what they want." Brett is also presenting the film in the US.
When: Releases May 21, 2010

PRINCE

Edited by:
Nicolas Trembasiewicz (The Transporter)
Releases in: Hindi, Tamil and Telugu
Running time (now): 130 minutes (all versions)
Why: Prince producer Kumar Taurani says, "Prince is a highly stylized action thriller. We got a lot of footage but when we tried to assemble the whole thing in India, we were unhappy with the final product. We spoke to a few editors abroad and finally selected Nicolas Trembasiewicz". When asked why a foreign editor, Taurani added, "I don't know about others but for my film, it wasn't intentional in any way. We didn't have any other option."
When: March 26
