They say proof of the pudding is in the eating. It was a testing time for Emraan Hashmi when he was approached with the script of Vishal Bhardwaj’s next that deals with witchcraft. The actor was sceptical about the real-time relevance of black magic and had to be convinced by director Kannan Iyer of greater possibilities.
In fact, Iyer had to accompany Emraan to his own apartment complex to point out evidence that indicated the rampant practice of the dark arts. Iyer says, “We often don’t pay attention to our immediate surroundings.
But there are so many groups in our country that believe in these cults and they leave a certain mark in certain places. These signs and shapes have significance that is best known to them. I showed Emraan strange symbols and he was convinced.” The director adds, “We all like mysteries and have a fascination for black magic, witches and ghosts.”
