'Monsoon Shootout' actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui stays away from promoting film, leaves makers disgruntled

Why Nawazuddin Siddiqui is refraining from promoting Monsoon Shootout

After being stuck in the cans for four years, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Monsoon Shootout' is finally hitting theatres next week. But, we hear Siddiqui has refused to promote the Amit Kumar-directed film, stating that he has to honour his prior commitments. Naturally, this hasn't gone down well with producer Guneet Monga. Hoping to generate buzz before its release, Monga requested Priyanka Chopra to launch the trailer of the film on social media. While Chopra obliged, Siddiqui did not even share the trailer on his social media handle.

A source close to the production team said, "Nawaz has point-blank told the team that he is busy with the shoot of 'Sacred Games' and other projects."

When mid-day got in touch with the film's team, the spokesperson said, "We are proud that Nawazuddin is a part of our film. We all hope to put in the best efforts to ensure our films are promoted well. However, it's disappointing when an actor doesn't show the same enthusiasm to be an equal part of the release."

However, a source close to the actor reasoned, "The makers had not sought his dates in advance. He is a professional and cannot jeopardise his other work commitments because of this." Siddiqui remained unavailable for comment.
