>> Before setting out on a long weekend drive, ensure all your car parts and tyres are in ship-shape and have done a round at the mechanic.
>> Ensure your wipers are fully functioning and able to tackle heavy downpour.
>> Carry spare tires, and contact numbers of car care centres along the route you plan to drive through.
>> Check your rear view mirrors from time to time, especially if the road is filled with circuitous routes and bends.
>> Don’t overcrowd your car — it’s all right to not be Mr Cool.
>> And finally — don’t take your car out if the rains are in full force; it’s better to be safe than sorry.
