The next most likely names used by sneaky cheats are Paul, Steve, Dave and David while for women it’s Jane, Louise, Lisa and Emma.
Website maritalaffair.co.uk said that if they are not using their real names, the ones they choose signify associations between their naughty online persona and character qualities the name suggests.
“Looking back at high-profile figures who have been caught cheating, it’s hardly surprising that these names have come out top,” the Daily Express quoted the site as saying.
The website highlighted former England captain John Terry’s alleged affair with a team-mate’s girlfriend and “celebrity mistress” Sarah Symonds, who allegedly had affairs with Gordon Ramsay and Jeffrey Archer.
