It’s been more than two decades since the Aamir Khan-Pooja Bhatt starrer Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin hit the marquee. And the film was recently in news when its remake was announced starring Emraan Hashmi.
However, it seems to have created some bad blood between its producers Bhushan Kumar, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. So much so that Bhushan wants to start work on the film, even if the Bhatts don’t stay on board.
Insiders say the choice of leading lady is what has ruffled feathers on both sides. While the Bhatts want their scion Alia in the remake, Bhushan apparently prefers Shraddha Kapoor. A source says, “Thanks to their difference in opinion, the film is in a limbo.”
Interestingly, while Bhushan tells us, “The film is on,” Mukesh Bhatt says, “We are yet to decide on whether we should do the film now or later. We did Aashiqui 2 after 23 years.” But insiders say Bhushan, whose father, the late Gulshan Kumar produced the original film, is in no mood to wait for the Bhatts.
“Bhushan is extremely excited. Though there is a lot of speculation around the film, he remains unaffected and is going ahead with the film. A lot of directors are keen to come on board. Bhushan will be finalising the names irrespective of the Bhatts participating.” On the buzz around the film’s leading lady, Mukesh Bhatt says, “We are weighing our options.”
