Cricketers took to twitter to pay tribute to VVS Laxman after he announced his retirement from the international career on Saturday.

The moment VVS Laxman announced his retirment from international cricket on Saturday, the cricket world's twitterati paid tribute to the cricketer known for his dignity and elegance.


Sachin Tendulkar, one of the golden quartet of India cricket along with Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, tweeted, "When I walk out to play in Hyd (Hyderabad) I will feel a deep void. A void that can never be fulfilled. My dear friend, VVS Laxman..."


Virender Sehwag tweeted: "VVS is one of the finest human beings to have played cricket. One of the main pillars of the team and a true friend. Words are not enough."


Harbhajan Singh wrote on the micro-blogging stie, "Laxman u were amazing cricket everyone knows but u were surly the best human being I hv ever met.god bless u with al th happiness in future."

Middle-order batsman Suresh Raina wrote, "From carrying his innings to carrying himself, VVS has shown immense class. Will miss you Laxman bhai."

Manoj Tiwary, a new entrant in Team India, "Laxman bhai has always been an inspiration for all the cricketers. Gonna miss watching him play for India. wish him All the best for future!"

Unmukt Chand, who's leading the Indian team in the under-19 World Cup, tweeted, "Wishing VVS Laxman a happy and successful life after retirement. He is my hero. A true legend and a great cricketer."

Former Team India opener Aakash Chopra, meanwhile, said, "The man who played the 'best Test innings by an Indian' has called it a day. VVS Laxman, thanks for the memories. Champion player."

Former India wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel, "Very Very Special Laxman...name says it all...many congratulations on a grt career.. "
