Security guards of the complex spotted the partially decomposed body of the deceased, believed to be 25-30 years of age, when they were patrolling the area.
“The body has been sent for post- mortem, results of which will ascertain the exact cause of death”, said Uttam More, senior inspector at Aarey police station.
According to the police, around 9.30 am security guards spotted the corpse lying in the bushes off the road leading to a helipad, after which they informed the police control room.
A police officer stated that the woman’s stomach was covered with a gunny bag and her face, hands, chest and legs were decomposed, adding that the covered stomach was intact because of the bag.
“Since the body was covered with a bag, it is possible that she was murdered. However, no external injuries were seen and the woman seems to have been murdered and dumped at the spot around 10 to 15 days ago. Further investigation is underway,” said More.
A police source stated the woman appeared to belong to a well-to-do family and was wearing a salwar kameez, but her footwear was missing. She had three gold rings on her fingers, indicating that robbery was not the motive, cops said.
