She managed to get loan with photocopies of title deed of a house, which she sold again
A woman managed to get a Rs-6 lakh bank loan with photocopies of the property documents and then went on to sell the house. Canara Bank discovered the fraud eight years later and filed a complaint on April 6, 2009.
K Radha Krishnan, assistant general manager at Canara Bank, Jayanagar Southendu00a0 branch, said that 42-year-old Chinnamma and her relative A Mani had taken a housing loan to construct their house in HAL IInd Stage in October 2001.
No originals
Though rules say that beneficiaries have to deposit the original title deeds of the property, Chinnamma got away with coloured photocopies of the documents and 'convinced' theu00a0 officials that they were genuine.
A bank officer sanctioned the loan after evaluating the property. However, when Chinnamma defaulted, the bank found out that Chinnamma has already sold her property to a doctor who had sold it to a businessman.
Second case
This is the second such complaint filed by the bank in four days. The Jayanagar branch of the bank had earlier complained against Aravind Kumar for depositing fake property documents and taking a loan of Rs 6 lakh. Kumar then sold the property.
