According to police officials, there were around 6-7 people in the party and Hangzo had locked herself inside a room by mistake. Later, when the door was opened, they could not find Niang inside the room. When they checked, Niang’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground of the building’s compound.

The incident took place at around 12.30 am. “As soon as she was found dead, all the other people present at the party fled. However, a Nigerian who is believed to be her boyfriend, was present at the spot,” said a police official from Kharghar police station.

The group was partying till late night and police officers recovered liquor bottles from the flat on the third floor. Niang had shifted with her boyfriend (identified as Uche) to Koparkhairane a month ago from Ahmedabad.

“She was very sweet and I knew her since her childhood. She was not under any stress. We feel that she may have accidentally fallen from the balcony,” said Paul Naulak, a relative of the deceased.
