A case has been registered against an 18-year-old unwed mother for allegedly abandoning her newborn boy near a public toilet in Ramnagar, Yerwada. The woman was arrested after the police traced her and she confessed to abandoning the child, saying she was unable to take care of it. According to the first information report filed by Station Duty Officer Machchindra Kumbhar, the woman had given birth to the child just an hour before abandoning it in the wee hours on Saturday.

Constable Machchindra Ramchandra Kumbhar launched the search for the mother and found the 18-year-old woman, who later admitted to having abandoned the child, saying it was born out of wedlock. The police arrested her under the relevant section of the IPC for abandoning the baby born to her.
