After a body was discovered from a box that was sent through courier from Delhi to Ajmer, another incident of a body being hidden in a box has surfaced in the National Capital Region. On Wednesday, Ghaziabad police found a body of a young man in a steel box. The dead man was identified as Monu (26) and the body was found at the residence of his fianc ufffde Meenu (24) at Rajeev colony of Sahibabad near Delhi.

"Monu was missing from his home for last five days and his family had lodged a missing complain with the police. During that time, neighbours of Meenu started complaining to her family that some foul smell was coming from their house, but her family made an excuse that it might be because of the death of some animal near their house," said a police officer.



Something in the air
However, on Wednesday, when the smell became unbearable, the neighbours called in the police. "As we searched the house, we found that the smell was coming from a steel box. On opening the box, we found body of Monu. We immediately informed his family members and took Meenu and her family members to the police station. During questioning, Meenu revealed that though she was engaged to Monu but he had been very rude to her and didn't want her take up a job. Five days back they had a heated argument in Meenu's home. The argument turned violent and Meenu killed Monu with help of her family members. Then they hid the body in a steel box in their house," the officer added. A case under section 302 of IPC was lodged and Meenu, her mother and her brother-in-law were arrested.

Body of evidence
On April 8, when a courier agency in Kishangarh near Ajmer found stench emanating from a parcel, they opened it and found a trunk with a corpse inside. The cops then discovered that the parcel was booked from Milap Courier Company in Lahori Gate area of Delhi on April 2. The sleuths had found the CCTV footage of the suspect, but it was unclear. They tried to make a sketch of the rickshaw puller who was seen with the trunk.


On February 11,u00a0 a Delhi girl Neetu Solanki's body was found packed in a travel bag in front of New Delhi railway station.u00a0 The body was claimed by the girl's father 13 days after the murder had taken place. The Delhi police had said that Neetu had been in a live-in relationship with one Raju Gehlotu00a0 whom they suspect had killed her. The accused is still on run. The police commissioner has declared a reward of Rs 50,000 on Raju.


On March 15, a body of a 30-year-old woman was found in a bag at Mumbai's Sandhurst station.u00a0 The Mumbai police said that the woman was four months pregnant. The deceased's brother-in-law and husband were arrested in this case.
