The identity of the woman and her son was, however, revealed on Wednesday afternoon, when her husband and father came to the Government Railway Police station to identify the mutilated bodies. Police said no suicide note was found at the spot. Cops suspect domestic violence and dispute may have influenced the woman’s decision. The deceased have been identified as Kalpana Shingare and Ayush – both residents of Fursungi, Hadapsar.

“Shingare’s husband, Parshuram, had registered a missing complaint on Tuesday night after he came back home from work and found the house locked. He searched for her in the area and tried her mobile number. He then approached Hadapsar police,” said assistant police inspector Sunita Dhamdhere.

In his complaint Parshuram had said that the couple had had a verbal spat over some issues the previous day. “We received a call from the Hadapsar railway stationmaster that two people, including a small child, were hit by a train around 10 am and after that a police team was rushed to the spot,” said inspector Mahendra Rokde of GRP. u00a0On Wednesday evening, the bodies were handed over to relatives after post-mortem.u00a0
