A 23-year-old woman and her eight-month-old son were found dead in a suspected suicide case near Sus Gaon yesterday. The woman's husband was found unconscious near the bodies.u00a0

Anirbhan Adhikari (30), who was found unconscious, was admitted to the Oyster and Pearl hospital on University Road. Anirbhan's son Aditya and wife Konkona were also rushed to hospital after the discovery was made around 10 am, but they were declared dead on arrival.u00a0

The police also discovered vomit on the bed where the three lay along with several bottles of various medicines.u00a0Anirbhan is a graphic designer, while Konkona was a housewife. No suicide note was found in the family home.

The family from Tinsukia, Assam, resided in a second-floor flat in Nea Housing Society purchased by it three months ago.u00a0Anirbhan's brother Arindham and Konkona's brother Kaushik, who were supposed to pay the family a visit, met each other below the building and proceeded upstairs to the Adhikaris' flat. They rang the doorbell but no one answered it; repeated telephone calls also did not yield any response.u00a0

"One of the brothers climbed down to the balcony from a neighbouring flat, smashed the glass door and entered the second bedroom, only to find it locked from outside. He came out and then both of them, along with other residents, broke open the main door to finally find the bodies in the other bedroom," said Police Sub-Inspector S Yele from the Hinjewadi police station. u00a0

The three were rushed to hospital, where Konkona and Aditya were declared dead.u00a0Anirbhan's condition is stated to be critical and he is recuperating in the intensive care unit (ICU).u00a0The bodies of Konkona and Aditya were handed over to their relatives. The police had not revealed the post-mortem report at the time of going to press.
