"WHAT is the name of Lord Agni's wife?" asks Yooti Bhansali, drawing a blank from this writer. "Let me give you a clue. Where can you spot agni in an everyday setting?" she says. "A havan?" we guess. "Yes, and what word is uttered the most during rituals in a havan?" she persists. "Swaha!" "There's your answer," she congratulates us, having demonstrated what casual quizzing is about. "Quizzing is not just about knowing facts, but also working out stuff in the head," says Bhansali of Thinq2Win, which was founded by Ramanand Janardhanan, the youngest BBC Mastermind India winner at 22, and BV Harish Kumar, who has won and hosted quizzes across India. The organisation is hosting Qtopia, an all-day festival of quizzes spanning topics and formats.

Fingers on the buzzer!

After a warm-up session on Harry Potter, the line-up will be split into two parallel sessions. Expect a quiz around events in 2017, a western pop culture quiz, a parent-child Mahabharata quiz, where two generations will answer questions on the epic, a session on cricket, politics and films, a visual quiz on advertising and business, and one on the origins of social movements. To wrap things up is a party-style pub quiz with elements of board games. The first and the last sessions are free and open to all. "We want to suggest that quizzes are for everyone, and are a fun way of learning and retaining what you have learnt. Just show up armed with curiosity," Bhansali sums up.
