With all the bad blood between the Indian and Australian cricket teams over the DRS controversy in the Bangalore Test, it needed sometime magical at Ranchi to take the focus away from it all. And Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha came to the rescue.

The Australian skipper was stuck on 97 for a while, especially beacuse left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was bowling a leg-stump line.

Smith missed one of the Jadeja deliveries and the ball got stuck between the batsman's pads. Saha, in all earnestness, jumped from behind the stumps and tried to grab the ball from between Smith's legs.

The Indian wicketkeeper in his attempt to snatch the ball from the delicate position, knocked Smith to the ground.

Saha pouched the ball and appealed to the umpire since he thought the Aussie captain had inside edged it. But English umpire Ian Gould just lost it. Gould walked away laughing before declaring it a dead ball.

Most of the Indian cricketers out in the middle also were laughing, but not Smith. Even all of the TV commentators found the moment hilarious.

Replays showed that Saha’s appeal was in vain because there was no bat involved.

Twitterati too though it was 'the moment of the match':
