WWE Raw that followed Survivor Series 2016 saw a triumphant Goldberg enter the ring and make a huge announcement to the WWE universe regarding his wrestling future and next pay-per-view event.

Goldberg shocked the world when he defeated Brock Lesnar in under 2 minutes during the main event at 2016 Survivor Series. Goldberg stated that Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon asked him if he has another title reign left in him to which Goldberg replied in the affirmative and annouced that he will compete at the Royal Rumble 2017 event and that 'everyone is next'.

Following their win at the traditional 10-on-10 Survivor Series tag team match Cesaro and Sheamus fought the New Day for the Raw tag team titles. But a distraction from Xavier Woods helps Kofi Kingston and Big E retain their titles.

Enzo Amore walked around nude backstage after a shower and ran into Lana, wife of wrestler Rusev. Amore later faced Rusev and the latter made quick work of him after hitting him with the Accolade. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows defeated The Golden Truth and also earned a shot at the tag team titles.

Chris Jericho had a Highlight Reel segment with Kevin Owens. After initially blaming each other for Team Raw's loss at Survivor Series, they later blamed Roman Reigns and hugged it out. Seth Rollins came out and challenged Owens for the WWE Universal title after which the two friends attacked Rollins. Reigns then came out to save his former Shield teammate and finally Mick Foley announced a title match between Rollins and Owens as the main event.

Sasha Banks and Bayley faced Raw women's champion Charlotte and Nia Jax. Sasha hit the Bank Statement on Charlotte for the win.

Seth Rollins then took on Kevin Owens in a no disqualification match for the Universal title. Owens began using chairs on Rollins initially and also slammed him through a table. Seth Rollins then powerbombed Kevin Owens through a table, but he managed to kick out. Chris Jericho then appeared in a Sin Cara mask and attacked Rollins following which Kevin Owens hit a powerbomb on Rollins on the apron to pin him and retain his title.
