WWE SmackDown Live saw Dean Ambrose beat AJ Styles to become the number one contender for the latter's WWE World championship in the main event.

James Ellsworth came out to thank Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan for letting him perform in the ring and apologised to Dean Ambrose. Ambrose and Styles later came into the ring - one accepting his apology and the other asking for one. Styles then shoved Ellsworth into Ambrose and followed it with 'The Phenomenal Forearm'. Dean Ambrose later faced AJ Styles for the no. 1 contender to the title after Daniel Bryan set up the match. A little interruption courtesy, James Ellsworth during the match led Styles to miss his 'Phenomenal Forearm' as Dean Ambrose hit 'Dirty Deeds' on the champion for the pinfall.

As Randy Orton faced Kane in a no-disqualification match, the lights went out as Kane was about to hit the 'Chokeslam' on Orton, with the Wyatt's appearing. They tried to attack Kane but failed to do so. Randy then hit the RKO on Kane to win the match.

Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella took on their rivals Alexa Bliss and Carmella in a women's tag team match. Lynch and Nikki began to set the pace in the earlier stages of the match, but after Carmella led a distraction, Alexa pinned Becky to win the match.

Daniel Bryan appeared on Miz TV and announced the 5-member SmackDown Live team for the Survivor Series challenge. The team included Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles.

As Miz also turned down the offer to face Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental title, Ziggler announced an open challenge towards any RAW superstar for the same at Survivor Series.
