Yash Chopra admitted to hospital for dengue fever

Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Sunday after being diagnosed with with an attack of dengue.

Filmmaker Yash Chopra, who recently turned 80, was hospitalised here after he felt weak but he is fine now, a spokesperson for the hospital said Sunday.


Dr Suhir Dagaonkar, spokesperson of Lilavati Hospital told IANS: "Yes, he is admitted at Lilavati Hospital."


A hospital source said Chopra was hospitalised Saturday afternoon after he felt weakness. "He is fine now and is expected to be discharged in a day or two," the source added.


The veteran filmmaker has been busy shooting the film "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" as a director. The film is slated for a Diwali release Nov 13 and will see Shah Rukh Khan romancing Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.

A source said: "Day before yesterday (Friday), Chopra attended a party. He felt uneasy the next day, so he was hospitalised. There is nothing serious. He will be discharged in a day or two."

The filmmaker had announced his retirement from film direction last month.

He is looking forward to the release of his latest directorial venture Jab Tak Hai Jaan that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead.

The film is set to hit the screens on November 13.

Mr Chopra has given several hits in his more than five decade old career like Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, Trishul, Silsila, Chandni and Veer Zaara.
